Mars enters Cancer . After his very unusual 8 mon Mars enters Cancer .

After his very unusual 8 months long journey in Gemini, the red planet will enter the water sign Cancer on March 25 at 12.45 CET.
Since he had climbed to his northernmost latitude on January 9th, he is now descending towards his south node which he will reach on Nov. 6th.
A planet that moves toward his farthest northern distance from the ecliptic is similar to a dignified and strong planet that persues its purpose in a straitforward and uninhibited manner. In a way it plays with open cards.
But when the planet declines from that elevated place, the quality changes from "waxing" to "waning" . It's agenda might not be easily accomplished and other methods come into play.
Besides, moving south now, also means moving towards the earth, which, in the case of Mars, might not be something enrirerally desirable. Mars is now in Cancer, a sign that not only describes water but all kinds of liquids. This water gets heated by Mars, so we might wonder about upcoming news on the glaciales for example or fuel (fire) pollution in the sea, just as we have seen gas in the ocean when Mars was in Gemini (North stream pipeline drama).

Mars is in a female sign now. His energy cannot manifest actively, but he must hold on to passive expressions which causes blockages and resentment, which might come to a point of unexpected explosion when he cannot hold back anymore, hence the cardinal quality of Cancer. Water signs are linked to emotions, which is why we will see more about the wounded, the struggle of soldiers and their families but also emotional attachment to one's" "home", including nationalism, the inhenced defence of national borders and the differentiation between "us" and "them". Mars in Cancer is not Jupiter who includes. Mars excludes and gets rid of the rest. He is not precisely a cuddler.
One of the first things I always come to see when One of the first things I always come to see when I visit Florence is this little piece of artwork, right on the famous Battistero in front of the cathedral. It is part of a series of images with typical medieval professions.
Don't even think this might simply be an astronomer. That profession is shown in another place , not far away from the astrologer, but with a telescope.

If you zoom into the image of the astrologer, you can see the ecliptic, over his work instruments.

In the Medieval, astology was part of the Quadrivium, so every learned person would know about rethoric, music, geometry and astrology. This is why astrological symbolism is everywhere in medieval arts.22
At the time of Leonardo da Vinci, the quadrivium w At the time of Leonardo da Vinci, the quadrivium was part of the higher education which included astrology.

Indeed, Leonardo had a great deal of astrological knowledge and was particularly interested in astrological physiognomy, which he studied at any possible occasion, for example in hospitals or places of public executions. The latter were the only places where he could possibly gain an understanding of what was inside the human body, since this information was usually subject of religious veto.
In physiognomy, each planet rules a particular part of the body, the position above or below the ecliptic describes if the body is squat or tall, the heliacal phases were uses to determine if a person was hairy etc.
There were astrological archetypes, for example Saturn's eagle nose or his way of dragging the legs, Jupiter's big belly, Venus' softness or the famkia lunar face.

These archetypes have in later periods been horribly abused and assigned to specific religious groups which they were obviously never intended for.
In his Last Supper, Leonardo used the planets to describe well known particularities of the apostles.
For example a warrior is described by Mars and he rules Aries. One of Mars features in Aries is dominant cheekbones. But Aries is also a cardinal sign and therefore represents large gestures, very different from typical gestures of, say, earthly Virgo or human Libra.

I am going to talk about all these and many other often overlooked details in my upcoming talk "Leonardo's a last Supper, an astrological manifest" at the Astrological Lodge of London during the tradional day event.

Saturn has left his domicile. Since December 2017 Saturn has left his domicile.
Since December 2017 Chronos has first been in his nocturnal domicile Capricorn, where he reached his apogee at 3°13' in Jan 2018.
He has since then started his descend, but had still house rulership in Aquarius. Now he has not only entered tropical Pisces today, but is also continuing his descending phase from the apogee in Capricorn to the perigee in Cancer, which makes him still cold but wetter.
Over the next 3 years we will probably see more water based devastations as now happening in earthquake shaken Turkey, since this period also coincides with the Moon's max. declination period.
It's is also the last southern sign that Saturn crosses before he moves above the equator, when he enters Aries in Feb. 2026.

According to their heliacal phases, the humor or t According to their heliacal phases, the humor or temperament of a planet changes. The most obvious are the lunar phases but a similar concept applies to all planets.
A planet's nature has one intrinsic or never changing element and another one that can change according to the phases. Saturn's nature is defined as cold and dry but only cold is intrinsic. If Saturn is oriental, his dryness gets less. He does not become as wet as Moon, of course, but his dryness is moderated. But when Saturn is occidental, his dryness is strongly increased, which makes him potencially more dangerous because due to the lack of moisture, he easily cracks what he rules. We can see this in the chart of the Titanic, where Saturn is found occidental.

The contrary is true for Jupiter. His nature is defined as (temperate) hot and moist. The heat is his intrinsic element, while the moisture can change. When he is oriental, Jupiter can get excessively wet while when he is occidental, the moisture dries more up.

While no planet alone has all the info about a certain event, we can see that Jupiter was oriental during the Indonesian Tsunami of Banda Aceh in 2004. One element among many others, but certainly an important one.

The phases of the superior planets are particularly important in ingress charts especially for weather patterns, but can also add important information in decumbitures, which are charts cast for the moment one gets ill.
When traditional authors refer to the visibility o When traditional authors refer to the visibility of a planet, they usually do not intend the actual visibility above or below the AC-DC line, or the visibility or invisibility in relation to the hour of the day.
What they actually mean in the heliacal phase of a planet.
A planet becomes visible in two ways: when it is oriental and hence rises before the Sun or when it is occidental and sets after the Sun.
Superior planets are considered stronger when they are oriental, but more importantly, in order to be strong, they need to be "visible".
That's why Antigonos says -referring to Emperor Hadrian's chart -that his Mars is "visibile", even though Mars is clearly below the horizon.
Mars, the ruler of Hadrian's MC, is in his own triplicity, below the horizon in this daytime chart but during the course of the day, Mars will become visibile in the night sky and be the last planet to set after the Sun. Furthermore, Mars is tied to the MC by a trine. This bond made Hadrian "glorious, dynamic and invincible", according to Antigonos and his translator Stephan Heilen. Leonardo da Vinci's Last Supper is an astrologica Leonardo da Vinci's Last Supper is an astrological manifest.
He clearly shows the seasons, solstice and all 12 signs in detail.
He uses the figures of the apostles for a master lesson on physiognomy, quadruplicities and triplicities.

This very visual and little theoretical lecture takes you to a ride of unexpected discoveries and shows you how to read the painting in order to see the (not so hidden!) astology.

In Roman emperor Hadrian's chart we find Jupiter a In Roman emperor Hadrian's chart we find Jupiter and the Moon conjunct the AC and the Sun in the 1st house. Mercury and Saturn are morning stars in the 12th house.
According to Antigonos of Nikaia this denotes a sharp intellect that develops early, and an excellent education., which, he had, indeed, received.
However, Saturn is out of sect and with Mercury in this malefic house, Hadrian is described ad cunning and certainly used to political intrigues.

However, Saturn also rules Jews, who Hadrian considered his enemies, especially after the Bar Kokhba Revolt. He forbid the use of the Jewish calendar, persecuted Torah scholars, burned the Torah on the Temple Mount and built a Pagan temple on top of it and ordered the stop of circumcision.
The rebellion caused half a million deaths and 15, million enslaved Jews. As a result, Hadrian’s name was accompanied by the epitaph "might your bones be crushed", denying him any kind of forgiveness, after life or e eventual resurrection.
This epithet is impressive if we consider that Saturn is the natal ruler of bones and he most elevated planet in Hadrian's chart.

In good gardening calendars we can find the indica In good gardening calendars we can find the indication that any work is unfavorable when the Moon is either at her apogee or at her perigee.
This is only true to some extent.

When the Moon is at her apogee, she has reached her farthest distance from the earth and the growth force of the plants diminishes. The Moon's motion is at its lowest- The plants "feel" they don't have time and will quickly flower and run to seed since they need to propagate.
So this day might be perfect for planting flowers that we want to propagate, but this is certainly inadequate for leaf crops like salads or spinach, because once these plants run to seed, they are not good for eating anymore and usually die quickly.

On the other hand, when the Moon is at her perigee, the Moon is at her closest distance from the earth, and thus “weighing” on the soil, making it difficult for the plants to germinate and grow while all kind of parasites rejoice. This is why plants seeded during the perigee easily rot.

Interesting to notice that Turkey's powerful earth Interesting to notice that Turkey's powerful earthquake occurred just between two major sun flare activities on Feb. 5th and today Feb. 6th. These activities influence magnetic fields and what is more the so called solar storms will see their peak in 2025, which coincides with the peak in the lunar declination, the major lunistice.
7.8 earthquake in Turkey. What do the charts tell 7.8 earthquake in Turkey. What do the charts tell us?
Turkey is in a 4th house profection year, using the chart of the Turkish Republic from Oct. 29, 1923, 20.30, Ankara.
The 4th house is in Libra and Venus is the LOY.
In the radical 4th, we find Mars, Mercury and Saturn. Transiting Venus triggers them by antiscium while transiting Mars is in the radical 12th house, squares Venus, both in common signs (motion) and trines the radical Mars.
All that on a nearly perfect Full Moon with the transiting Sun im Turkey' s 8th house and the Moon in contraantiscium to the radical Venus by sign and to the degree by square. Furthermore, transiting Venus is conjunct Turkeys South Node and on the MC. The MC of the moment of the earthquake is very close to the radical Mars in Turkey' s 4th house.
This earthquake happens just at the beginning of a major lunistice period that sees the monthly lunar declination reach values of about 28°+ degrees.

My thoughts are with the Turkish people.
The heliacal phases of Mercury are often neglected The heliacal phases of Mercury are often neglected due to his greater speed and therefore continously changing phases.
But if we observe him carefully we'll see, that when Mercury is oriental and hence rises before the Sun, he carries his messages from the Nederworld to the Gods.
This Mercury relies on practical experiences and his intellect is focused on learning by doing, exploring the world that surrounds him. He believes in what he can see and touch.
The occidental Mercury sets after the Sun and therefore carries the messages from the Gods to the people. He has a powerful intuition and perceives a secret world around him that he cannot see but that he knows to be there. He has an investigative mind and learns from introspection.

Sect and the concept of hayz are of particular importance here, because an occidental Mercury is strongest when he is in a nocturnal chart in a female sign above the horizon while an oriental Mercury is at his best when he is in a diurnal chart in a male sign above the horizon.
BTW. Secret societies or founders of them, as the founder of Bildenberg Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands often have an oriental Mercury, which is not surprising since these clubs hunger for power.
If the ancients considered the (superior) conjunct If the ancients considered the (superior) conjunction as so powerful why do so many astrologers
today consider combustion as a stake on which the planet’s strength is burned rather than a place of
sacred union?
As usual, it is not about who is right or wrong.
Let us consider two points here. The first is that a true
conjunction requires alignment by longitude and latitude, which in the case of Venus only occurs
every 243 years, when Venus transits her own node while she is conjunct the Sun. In that rare case,
Venus is cazimi, or “in the heart of the Sun”, in Cor Leonis. That is the true celestial marriage and
extremely strong.
However, in each other (non cazimi) superior conjunction, she is occidental, very quick direct, and at
her apogee, farthest from earth but closest to “spirit”. What that means is that at her superior
conjunction she is shown agape, divine, selfless, all-embracing spiritual love. Eden, so to speak.
But at the very moment, she comes down to earth, and finds herself in a physical body, everything
that during he conjunctions felt so natural and beautiful is now, piece by piece, losing its glance.
Shadows of grey come in. The memory weakens. People do not understand this nagging feeling that
something is not right, that something is lacking. That even our most wonderful emotions sometimes
look like a bad copy of something bigger.
Venus has a hard time to realize what her purpose is and how to fulfil it
in this materialistic world where everything seems to have a price. Indeed. she rarely succeeds.
Artists may have a chance of shaping, dancing or writing their now remote memories of what they
saw during the conjunction but even the arts look like grey and expressionless copies on the physical
plane.

At her inferior conjunction, Venus is retrograde, and hence moving in opposite direction in relation to the Sun. This Venus has also seen beauty at her meeting, glossy images of a perfect world but this is
about appearance, love of what one sees and can buy, mundane interests. A career, self- realization. She is weak because she cannot
see herself in the strong light of the Sun so will try to find herself in others.
Usually rituals are associated with the 9th house Usually rituals are associated with the 9th house but these only refer to religious rituals. Birth giving rituals would be found in the 5th, bravery tests in the 1st etc.

Fire signs describe fire rituals as walking on coals, for example. But also all kind of dares, out camping or boy scout rituals, survival training but also kundalini training, drum rituals, shamanic dances. Fire signs might be tempted by drug induced visions.

Earth signs are linked to nature-magic and natural spirits, veneration of the ancestors, rituals linked to trees, grounding, endurance, or those that involve repetition of prayers or things like the Japanese tea ceremonies where there are fixed rules for each step, or rituals that involve procrastination and physical sacrifices.
Natural vision enhancers, such as Ayahuasca, trips that require a guide. Stone rituals.

Air signs use incense and other substances, as for example the oracle of Delphi which used poisenous vapors to enhance visions. Astral travel. Group rituals. Visualizations or shamanic body change (see with the eyes of the eagle above your head) are frequent. Music and the use of the voice for rituals are the specialty of air signs: chanting, the om ritual, gospels, sound healing, use of specific frequencies.

Water signs use the water element (think about giving birth with dolphins), DreamWork, all rituals that imply memories and the access to them, as hypnosis. Baptism. Drinking rituals. Purifications.
The concept of a planet's conjunction with the Sun The concept of a planet's conjunction with the Sun has seen many profound changes over time. Hellenistic astrologers considered it as a recharge of energy. The planet is always at its apogee during such a conjunction and hence at its farthest position from earth and "closest to the spirits". Once separated from the Sun, the planet made its helical rising in the Eastern horizon, a very¶strong period.

Persian authors introduced the concept of eastern and easternization. When a planet reached 6° - 15° from the Sun, it was eastern, and strong. From 15° to 90° it was easterized, still strong but not quite as much as before.
Renaissance astrologers considered the conjunction as merely a moment of combustion and total loss of strength while from 6°-15° the planet was under the beams, the second worst condition. Lilly stresses the point that entering the rays is worse then emerging from them, but still, the condition of the planet was weak.
Those differences in the consideration of a conjunction may appear minor to somebody, but I think they are very telling.
The observation of the visual sky became less and less important and the voids left were basically filled with concepts of fear: The place of divine marriage between the Sun God and the planet was now the combustion fire in which the planet was burned by the evil Sun.
Tomorrow we will have a very particular New Moon. Tomorrow we will have a very particular New Moon. Phoebe will be at her closest perigee since almost 1000 years. It's not a "super moon" since it's not a Full Moon, but it is certainly a remarkable astronomical event nevertheless.
Since the Moon controls tides but also tectonic plates which move with inertia on the earth"s inner magma, this is a powerful time. The Moon is also only hours past her maximum declination, where weather conditions are put on "hold". To that already pretty full agenda we can add the fact that this New Moon occurs pretty close to the bendings of the Moon, which makes this new Moon look like an arrow, ready to be launched.
The Sun is coupled with the Moon, of course, but there are more mates here. Venus is conjunct Saturn, who is also the dispositor of the New Moon. Saturn is well dignified and in hairesis which makes him and accidental benefic, especially in conjunction with the benefic in sect.
Jupiter's antiscium falls on (my local AC and) Fortune and is trined by the Sun and the Moon.

I think we can say, that we have seen well worse lunations, so let's just be happy, y'all!
The constellation of Scorpio is certainly the most The constellation of Scorpio is certainly the most difficult place in the zodiac. The image is that of an animal that is famous for its venomous sting, but the sting is not exactly on the ecliptic and therefore does not represent a real danger to the Sun, which never moves away from the ecliptic.

On the other hand, Scorpion's chelae (scissors) do put the sun in danger as they seeem to cut the ecliptic as it was Ariadne's threat. Any planet just between those chelae would be in danger. But when the ruler of the AC is in this position, then the native's life path is all about Scorpio's scissors. The Sun represents life, and the scissors cut it off.

Thoses scissors corresponds to 2° Sagittarius in the tropical zodiac.

If we look closer and use the astro software Stellarium we can see that there is another passage at the end of the constellation Scorpio that is equally dangerous and that is the reddish part of the Milky Way. And here the sting (close to the fixed star Shaula) comes into play, because it is right in the middle. Due to our constant (light) pollution, this dark part is not very visible and many people might not even know about its color. It certainly is not a good good place to have Mars close to the Moon positioned, which can both have great latitude from the ecliptic and move close to this place. Mars here literally describes flowing blood.

Ted Bundy had these two conditions in his chart. He killed more then 30 women.
