Tomorrow, May 21 2023 ,for the first time, Saudi A Tomorrow, May 21 2023 ,for the first time, Saudi Arabia goes into space. This is an event broadly
marketed in the Saudi Kingdom.
The first Muslim female astronaut from Saudi Arabia, Rayyanah Barnawi, a medical researcher and
her male colleague Ali Alqarni will participate in a private space mission together with one paying
participant and a former NASA astronaut, Peggy Whitson, commander of the mission.

The official launch time is set for 5.37 p.m. (Cap Canaveral, Florida).

This timing is not very lucky.

If the launch takes time at this precise moment, we have the last degree of Libra rising, which is the
Via Combusta.
Only 3 degrees from the AC we find the south node. Both are very negative indications
to start with.

On the MC we see Mars, who has just lost his dignities as the triplicity ruler of the water signs. He is
out of sect and peregrine in the place that represents the success of the mission.

Mars is going to
square peregrine Jupiter who rules the 8th from the 10th, where we also find peregrine Saturn.

The
Moon has long left her square from Saturn and is now also approaching Jupiter, who is in an earth sign.

The Sun, ruler of the MC is in the 8th house, disposed by Mercury, in an earth sign and in aversion.

The Sun is afflicted by a sextile from peregrine Mars and an applying square to Saturn.

Let us hope that the launch will have some delay or wil be postponed.
I wish those guys to come back safely.

Yesterday, Mai 18th at 22.17 the Italian Civil pro Yesterday, Mai 18th at 22.17 the Italian Civil protection issued an alert for the Etna Volcan, setting the flag from green to yellow.
This is certainly interesting considering that Mars, the natural ruler of volcans, is going to leave watery Cancer tomorrow, Mai 20th, when he will enter fiery Leo.

He will then cast a square to magnifying but bottled Jupiter in Taurus, only hours after the New Moon in late Taurus.

This NM occurs EXACTLY with the AC on the south node (set for Catania/ Etna) while Mars is in the bendings, lacking only 3 degrees from an exact square which he is going to apply.

Mars was also the AC ruler in the ingress chart, in the 8th house while Saturn was conjunct the IC.

He is in the 8th house at the time of the Twitter message.

Since Italy is already shaken by floods (yep, Mars in Cancer and Saturn in Pisces) this Mars ingress is a serious warning.

While he have recently heard all about house systems, little has been said about the earliest associations of the houses.

We know that the angular houses are associated with the 4 cardinal directions east, west, north and south.

But why, for example, is the 7th house given to enemies?

The answer might surprise because of its practical straight forwardness.

Early "house" associations (or rather what would later be called houses), started with the Sumerians and later Babylonians and were linked to cardinal directions, so let's switch to Babylonian geography.

In the west of Babylon lived the people of Amurru who repeatedly threatened and invaded Babylonia. Hence "west" was simply associated with the direction, their enemies came from. Similarly, the associations of colors, stones, crops, towns and countries followed the same principles.

The people from Akkad and Nippur, including their physiognomy, character, behavior, but also colors and everything growing or coming from there was associated with the north.

Subartu was in the east of Mesopotamia and hence descriptive of all people, food, plants and goods coming from there.

Elam was in the south and descriptive of the people of Uruk, the ancestors and where the Mesopotamian culture had its first center.
So basically, the astology in Mesopotamia was hermetic. Instead of "as above so below" , they had "as the, west so its tribes".

On May 16th, at 7.20 p.m CST Jupiter enters Taurus On May 16th, at 7.20 p.m CST Jupiter enters Taurus where he loses his triplicity rulership and is peregrine. Since Jupiter's nature is warm and moist, typically sanguine, he gets cold feet in earthy and dry Taurus, which has a melancholic nature.
Since Taurus is a female sign, it's nature is rather passive which is why exuberant Jupiter easily feels restrained here, obliged to hold back. However the mutual reception with Venus makes his stay rather pleasant.
While Jupiter initially receives Mars in his exaltation, the latter will exit the save harbor on May 20th and enter much hotter Leo, squaring Jupiter. Now the restrainment gets more difficult to handle and the square will bring more fuel to Mars since Jupiter wants everything big time.
This signiture is further strengthened by its conjunction with the ascending node, while Mars is in the northern bendings of the Moon, hence tense like an arrow, ready to fly.
In my time zone Jupiter rules the 2nd house of finances and Mars the 1st and the 6th (illnesses or employments). Mars is in the 9th house of foreign countries and we know what is going on in France.
When Mars enters Leo, he loses dignities and hence control. There is no empathy anymore, the water is gone.
On the same day, May 20th, the Moon will square Saturn, which describes repressed people, the more so since the Moon is in a human sign in the 8th WSH.
The Moon's next aspect is a square to Mars with mutual reception.
No de-escalation in sight.
On the apogee Apogee and perigee are astronomical On the apogee

Apogee and perigee are astronomical terms which refer to the distance from one celestial body to the nearest (perigee) or farthest (apogee) position on the elliptical orb of another planet.

Few astrologers are aware that there are actually two sets of apogees used by traditional authors.

The first is linked to the epicycle of the planet and hence the heliacal phases.
In this system, a planet is always at its apogee when it reaches the conjunction with the Sun and always at its perigee when it is in opposition to the Sun.
This system is also useful to track the latitude of a planet, which reaches is maximum at its perigee.

The second reference system is not just about the planet-Sun relationship but about the distances between the earth and another planet, without considering the Sun.
In this system, the apogee is the physical point, where the planet reaches its max. distance from the earth.
Both systems are linked together by larger cycles and match according to the planetsry years, for example Saturn every 29 years, Jupiter every 12 etc.

More on this topic in my upcoming book on latitude, declination , nodes and apogee.

One of Leonardo da Vinci's iconic figures in his L One of Leonardo da Vinci's iconic figures in his Last Supper is Thomas.
He was a tax collector for the Roman occupators before becoming one of Jesus' 12 apostles.

As a tax collector he was hated and marginalized by his own people, as many of the other apostles as welk, for various reasons.
The natural ruler of tax collectors is Mercury, but he has two signs.

The air sign is linked to an intellectual exchange while the earth sign is more connected to material issues such as money.
So Leonardo used this figure to represent Virgo. The sign is associated with precision, criticism and sometimes pedantery and Mercury rules the hands and fingers.
Leonardo combined his knowledge of physiognomy, astrology and biblical knowledge in his manifest of astrology, the Last Supper, capturing Thomas while he asks for details about what Jesus had just revealed at the table: somebody would betray him the very next day and that would led to his death.
Thomas wants to know how they would be able to recognize Jesus after his promised resurrection. Leonardo paints Andrew's doubts in this little gesture.

Much more on this in great detail at my upcoming talk this Saturday at the Astrological Lodge of London.

On April 11th Jupiter reaches his yearly conjuncti On April 11th Jupiter reaches his yearly conjunction with the Sun. While this marks the end of a cycle and the beginn of another one, we need to consider that the Sun Jupiter conjunctions are only part of a bigger 12 years cycle in which Jupiter moves from his perigee to his apogee and back again to the perigee.
He has last been at his apogee in September 2016. He then crossed his own south node in Capricorn on Feb. 2020 to the day of the Italian lockdown and the beginn of a worldwide lockdown.
Growing big and spreading (virus/fear/information) is one of Jupiter's specialities.
Now Jupiter is in Aries, at his own perigee and hence his closest distance from earth.
This close distance is associated with mundane and more superficial, narcissist, or selfish interests rather than spiritual growth, which are stronger at the apogee.
While still in his own southern hemisphere Jupiter will now start to ascend and reach his North Node in Cancer in September 2025 before he reaches his next apogee in September 2028.

More on these cycles in my upcoming book.
On the Jupiter Occultation As we know, this year On the Jupiter Occultation

As we know, this year's Aries ingress was followed by a New Moon only hours later, which is already very particular.
But shortly after the New Moon (sygyzy) we also witnessed a Jupiter occultation, as Filip Filipof has noticed in a recent video. Indeed, both planets are conjunct not only by longitude but also by declination and latitude, which is very rare.
What it means is that the closer and hence apparently bigger lunar disk hides (occults) the smaller disk of Jupiter, in other word the Moon eclipses Jupiter.

Jupiter describes rich people and the banking system.
In the latest issue of the APAI newsletter I have written at length about the US Ingress chart and my impression that the US will go into default this year.

But Jupiter also describes the clerks, churches and temples.
In Rome and therefore in the Vatican, this occultation occurred in the 6th house of illness and the Moon ruled the 9th house (church): soon after the Jupiter occultation, on March 29, Pope Francisco was brought to the hospital for serious lung issues.

Yesterday, on March 30 in the Indian city of Indore , in the Shri Beleshwar Mahadev Jhulelal Temple during a major religious festivity, a stepwell crashed and 36 people died. In Indore the Jupiter occultation occurred exactly at the IC, also referred to as the "well".
News from the book front I am working on a book t News from the book front

I am working on a book that I started writing just before Covid. Indeed, the long lockdown here in Italy was not a problem for me, I would barely have put a foot outside anyway.
I started researching the use of latitude in traditional astrology but soon had to research the nodes, too. Not just the lunar nodes, but more importantly all of the planetary nodes and their cycles.
This brought me to topics such as the lunar standstill and the importance of the cycle of the apogee, mentioned by many traditional authors, explained by pretty much none of them.
The apogee led me to digg deep into the fundamental importance of declination. While many colleagues kept telling me that declination was a modern thing, I found the contrary to be true.
I looked into topics such as physiognomy, weather patterns, market indicators and finally the overall importance of the heliacal phases and how they bring everything together.
It has been a tough journey.
Finally, I have found the image for my book cover. While Leonardo da Vinci brought me to astrology, the image (no spoiler!) is not his but linked to him which makes me feel confident that the circle has been closed.
Now the editing process starts. But some day, this book with my countless illustrations will be ready. So be you..
Mars enters Cancer . After his very unusual 8 mon Mars enters Cancer .

After his very unusual 8 months long journey in Gemini, the red planet will enter the water sign Cancer on March 25 at 12.45 CET.
Since he had climbed to his northernmost latitude on January 9th, he is now descending towards his south node which he will reach on Nov. 6th.
A planet that moves toward his farthest northern distance from the ecliptic is similar to a dignified and strong planet that persues its purpose in a straitforward and uninhibited manner. In a way it plays with open cards.
But when the planet declines from that elevated place, the quality changes from "waxing" to "waning" . It's agenda might not be easily accomplished and other methods come into play.
Besides, moving south now, also means moving towards the earth, which, in the case of Mars, might not be something enrirerally desirable. Mars is now in Cancer, a sign that not only describes water but all kinds of liquids. This water gets heated by Mars, so we might wonder about upcoming news on the glaciales for example or fuel (fire) pollution in the sea, just as we have seen gas in the ocean when Mars was in Gemini (North stream pipeline drama).

Mars is in a female sign now. His energy cannot manifest actively, but he must hold on to passive expressions which causes blockages and resentment, which might come to a point of unexpected explosion when he cannot hold back anymore, hence the cardinal quality of Cancer. Water signs are linked to emotions, which is why we will see more about the wounded, the struggle of soldiers and their families but also emotional attachment to one's" "home", including nationalism, the inhenced defence of national borders and the differentiation between "us" and "them". Mars in Cancer is not Jupiter who includes. Mars excludes and gets rid of the rest. He is not precisely a cuddler.
One of the first things I always come to see when One of the first things I always come to see when I visit Florence is this little piece of artwork, right on the famous Battistero in front of the cathedral. It is part of a series of images with typical medieval professions.
Don't even think this might simply be an astronomer. That profession is shown in another place , not far away from the astrologer, but with a telescope.

If you zoom into the image of the astrologer, you can see the ecliptic, over his work instruments.

In the Medieval, astology was part of the Quadrivium, so every learned person would know about rethoric, music, geometry and astrology. This is why astrological symbolism is everywhere in medieval arts.22
At the time of Leonardo da Vinci, the quadrivium w At the time of Leonardo da Vinci, the quadrivium was part of the higher education which included astrology.

Indeed, Leonardo had a great deal of astrological knowledge and was particularly interested in astrological physiognomy, which he studied at any possible occasion, for example in hospitals or places of public executions. The latter were the only places where he could possibly gain an understanding of what was inside the human body, since this information was usually subject of religious veto.
In physiognomy, each planet rules a particular part of the body, the position above or below the ecliptic describes if the body is squat or tall, the heliacal phases were uses to determine if a person was hairy etc.
There were astrological archetypes, for example Saturn's eagle nose or his way of dragging the legs, Jupiter's big belly, Venus' softness or the famkia lunar face.

These archetypes have in later periods been horribly abused and assigned to specific religious groups which they were obviously never intended for.
In his Last Supper, Leonardo used the planets to describe well known particularities of the apostles.
For example a warrior is described by Mars and he rules Aries. One of Mars features in Aries is dominant cheekbones. But Aries is also a cardinal sign and therefore represents large gestures, very different from typical gestures of, say, earthly Virgo or human Libra.

I am going to talk about all these and many other often overlooked details in my upcoming talk "Leonardo's a last Supper, an astrological manifest" at the Astrological Lodge of London during the tradional day event.

Saturn has left his domicile. Since December 2017 Saturn has left his domicile.
Since December 2017 Chronos has first been in his nocturnal domicile Capricorn, where he reached his apogee at 3°13' in Jan 2018.
He has since then started his descend, but had still house rulership in Aquarius. Now he has not only entered tropical Pisces today, but is also continuing his descending phase from the apogee in Capricorn to the perigee in Cancer, which makes him still cold but wetter.
Over the next 3 years we will probably see more water based devastations as now happening in earthquake shaken Turkey, since this period also coincides with the Moon's max. declination period.
It's is also the last southern sign that Saturn crosses before he moves above the equator, when he enters Aries in Feb. 2026.

According to their heliacal phases, the humor or t According to their heliacal phases, the humor or temperament of a planet changes. The most obvious are the lunar phases but a similar concept applies to all planets.
A planet's nature has one intrinsic or never changing element and another one that can change according to the phases. Saturn's nature is defined as cold and dry but only cold is intrinsic. If Saturn is oriental, his dryness gets less. He does not become as wet as Moon, of course, but his dryness is moderated. But when Saturn is occidental, his dryness is strongly increased, which makes him potencially more dangerous because due to the lack of moisture, he easily cracks what he rules. We can see this in the chart of the Titanic, where Saturn is found occidental.

The contrary is true for Jupiter. His nature is defined as (temperate) hot and moist. The heat is his intrinsic element, while the moisture can change. When he is oriental, Jupiter can get excessively wet while when he is occidental, the moisture dries more up.

While no planet alone has all the info about a certain event, we can see that Jupiter was oriental during the Indonesian Tsunami of Banda Aceh in 2004. One element among many others, but certainly an important one.

The phases of the superior planets are particularly important in ingress charts especially for weather patterns, but can also add important information in decumbitures, which are charts cast for the moment one gets ill.
When traditional authors refer to the visibility o When traditional authors refer to the visibility of a planet, they usually do not intend the actual visibility above or below the AC-DC line, or the visibility or invisibility in relation to the hour of the day.
What they actually mean in the heliacal phase of a planet.
A planet becomes visible in two ways: when it is oriental and hence rises before the Sun or when it is occidental and sets after the Sun.
Superior planets are considered stronger when they are oriental, but more importantly, in order to be strong, they need to be "visible".
That's why Antigonos says -referring to Emperor Hadrian's chart -that his Mars is "visibile", even though Mars is clearly below the horizon.
Mars, the ruler of Hadrian's MC, is in his own triplicity, below the horizon in this daytime chart but during the course of the day, Mars will become visibile in the night sky and be the last planet to set after the Sun. Furthermore, Mars is tied to the MC by a trine. This bond made Hadrian "glorious, dynamic and invincible", according to Antigonos and his translator Stephan Heilen. (chart adapted by hand following Antigonos, (Jan 24th ,76 CE, Sevilla)

He uses the figures of the apostles for a master lesson on physiognomy, quadruplicities and triplicities.

In Roman emperor Hadrian's chart we find Jupiter a In Roman emperor Hadrian's chart we find Jupiter and the Moon conjunct the AC and the Sun in the 1st house. Mercury and Saturn are morning stars in the 12th house.
According to Antigonos of Nikaia this denotes a sharp intellect that develops early, and an excellent education., which, he had, indeed, received.
However, Saturn is out of sect and with Mercury in this malefic house, Hadrian is described ad cunning and certainly used to political intrigues.

However, Saturn also rules Jews, who Hadrian considered his enemies, especially after the Bar Kokhba Revolt. He forbid the use of the Jewish calendar, persecuted Torah scholars, burned the Torah on the Temple Mount and built a Pagan temple on top of it and ordered the stop of circumcision.
The rebellion caused half a million deaths and 15, million enslaved Jews. As a result, Hadrian’s name was accompanied by the epitaph "might your bones be crushed", denying him any kind of forgiveness, after life or e eventual resurrection.
This epithet is impressive if we consider that Saturn is the natal ruler of bones and he most elevated planet in Hadrian's chart.
